Went to the shops today. First time in a while.
I noticed a song playing on the loudspeaker. I didn't recognise it, but I thought it was pretty good. It was one of those modern synth-pop songs that's made to sound like it almost could have been released in the 1980s. I could have sworn the singer was Sophie Ellis Bextor, but I feel like I'm pretty familiar with most of her work, and I didn't recognise this one.
I thought to myself, I'll just make a mental note of the lyrics, and look them up when I get home. Then I promptly forget them.
So, I've been spending the last hour googling around for what I think the lyrics might have been, and of course, having no luck whatsoever. So, as plan B, I guess I'll just submit my query here and see if that ends up yielding any better results.
I seem to remember the chorus having a part in it that went something along the lines of, "I never thought my time would come", something, something, "standing in the sun" OR "never thought it would be my time", something, something, "standing in the sunshine".
Yes, I know that's fuck-all to go on. That's why I haven't been able to find anything so far. My only hope is that somebody is familiar enough with it that they actually know what the fuck it is I'm talking about.

Nope. Drawing a complete blank.
But then: Sophie Ellis-Baxter - I mean, was she ever a real person?
(she says, as she clicks the "I am not a robot button")
I don't know anything about Bextor as a person, except that she's a Pom, and either one or both of her parents where either famous or semi-famous. I dunno; I tend to not get overly invested in the celeb shit. I couldn't even tell you how many members are in my favourite metal band.
Regardless, she's put out a bunch of songs over the years that I really like. The album Make a Scene only has, like, two duds on it; with Starlight being an absolute gem.
