Day 165: Train to Nowhere

I was hopeful that when Captain Bligh was made to walk the plank in 2012, that the Cross-River-Rail project would be tossed overboard. In 2015, when "Can-Do" Newman was shit-canned, I was hopeful that the project might get shit-canned along with him. However, it seems like CRR is a project that cannot be voted out of office.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can read about it here; but basically, the QLD govt wants to build a rail tunnel in Brisbane that will provide 3 new stations—all of which are within walking distance of existing stations. How the fuck this project is supposed to "re-vitalise the entirety of South-East Queensland" is anyone's guess. All I can see it doing is making a handful of contractors a lot of money. How much money? Well, at the moment, Premiere Palaczazchazc is chucking around the figure of $6Bil, but c'mon, we've all seen how these things work—you'd have to be a mug if you didn't think this was gonna blow out to at least 10. Of course, even if we take the Prem on her word, is this really the best way for the state to spend six bil?

Like fuck it is.

To be fair, the train's not going "nowhere" so much as it's heading into a huge money pit.
