Stan Lee is dead

I feel like I should mention this, since I talk about comics and shit on here sometimes. The thing is, I'm just not a huge fan of American super-hero comics. Having said that, some of his stuff was pretty decent. He knew that the key to writing effective action is to marry it with effective drama. The audience needs to care about the characters, if they're going to get excited over what those characters are doing.

And having said that, I should probably also mention that the later part of his life was plagued by accusations that he left A LOT of the story-telling up to the artists, and thus, received a lot of credit that he didn't actually earn. What's my take? Well, I don't really have one. I never worked with him, so I wouldn't have a fuckin' clue what he did or didn't do.

I've also been told that there's a small but vocal group of PC police that are currently doing their best on social media to have him remembered as a bigot. Apparently, this is due to the fact that he was opposed to "re-imagining" established characters as black/female/homosexual/disabled/etc, and instead advocated for the creation of new characters with said traits. That's right, that's all it takes these days for people to publicly celebrate your death. Fuck I'm glad I don't use Twitter.

*Sigh* Another one gone. At this rate, I give it ten years before every comic book writer and artist whose work I've ever admired is dead. Suck is life.
