Aussie Ninja Warrior is back on the telly, much to the glee of the Nibblings. I've also been enjoying it, but I noticed they've de-emphasised the "friends-and-family" stories this year, which actually kinda sucks, since I'd gotten quite invested in finding out about such-and-such getting married to so-and-so, and whats-her-face having a baby with thingme-bob.
The episodes are going up on the channel 9 website, if you're interested in checking it out. If nothing else, I recommend having a look at Ovivia Livian's run, as it was an absolute corker.

I found this very interesting - it's like a professional version of It's a Knockout. And obviously because of that, way harder. Quite an achievement to make it through the course.
Though frankly, just making it through life at the moment feels like an achievement!
Lockdown sucks, but I'm glad the restrictions are even tighter now. I'd still like to see Uber etc shut down though.
I'm glad QLD shut the borders down again. We were getting to a stage where life could proceed fairly normally within the state, before things opened up. Wishing you mob down south all the best.
Think I said this before, but this is yet another great example of why it's best not to have essential services in private hands. They end up having to be kept afloat with taxpayer dollars in times of crises anyway. Qantas should be re-nationalised. Do Telstra while you're at it. And the Commonwealth bank.
Anyway, at least watching Ninja, and chatting to the nibblings about it, has got me doing something other than writing code. By the way, the grand final was last night. The final course was an absolute doozy. Sadly, LivityViv splashed out in stage 2 (of 3), but her fella went through and won the thing. Very moving, since the show has followed both of them since season 1, before they were a couple. He was a gangly and awkward bloke who'd been a skinny dork in his youth, and she was a washed-up gymnast who couldn't even make it to the end of the introductory course. Seeing them hook up, get more confident, improve year after year, and then for one of them to become the first ever Australian champion (nobody completed the grand final course for the first three years) has been great. All I'm waiting for now is a baby announcement.
Like I said, the soap opera side of it has totally been part of the hook.
In other news, I also started watching/discussing the netball (also available on the channel nein website) - Go the Sunshine Coast Lightning!
Videos of interest:
Liv's nail-biting semi-final run makes her heat run look like child's play.
Liv's fella's winning run through stages 2 & 3 of the grand final course.
And finally, a gratuitous video of Sam "The Tradie" Goodall, who's not only one of the top spunks (in my opinion) but also has the most adorable family; including a daughter who's so unbearably gorgeous, she's almost painful to look at.
