Actually, I missed the whole thing (the scandal, not the game). I don't think the kiss was televised, and if it was, I must have been looking away. And I'm not on Twitter or Instagram, so I missed the shit-fight too. Which suits me just fine.
All in all, it was a pretty good game. A few crunching tackles, some excellent kicking, tit-for-tat scoring, hotly contested until the last ten minutes. Probably not as exciting as watching women's rugby sevens, but still pretty bloody decent.
HOWEVER, the real highlight was the captain's speeches that followed the game. There's a stereotype that most league players are as thick as two bricks, and last night did absolutely nothing to counter that perception. Imagine the most yobbo of yobbo sheilas you've ever seen, giving a speech along the lines of, "Um, yeah, I reckon we played really good today, and shit, yeah." … and I'm not even exaggerating with the "and shit" bit either. I've looked for a clip of it online, but unfortunately, come up empty handed. A pity. The game was worth watching for that alone. Highly entertaining.
