Must be something in the water.

In my life, I've drunk tank water, bore water, and town water; and I've often scoffed at those who can't handle whatever happens to be on tap at the time—like cockies who've been raised on tank water and complain bitterly any time they have to drink anything else. Fuckin' whingers and sooks, I say!

Well, I don't want to name where I am, but suffice to say—at this very moment—I am whinging and sooking mightily.

The town water here tastes like a diabolical cocktail of putrescent mud and chlorine.

I've noticed all of the locals are drinking tank water. Part of me suspects there's a plot afoot to sell bottled water to outsiders. If so, then it's working. I'm even using the stuff to boil the billy when I make tea.

Yes, it's that fuckin' bad.

I hate bottled water, especially when it's hot and you can taste the plastic

I'm one of those wilting flowers who buys bottled water whenever faced with anything of lesser quality than the glories of Melbourne's tap water. Well that's not true, I'll drink Sydney's, and Brisbane's. And some places in Perth are okay. But pretty much anywhere in the country, it's SHIT and Adelaide is the worst. And overseas - I was pleasantly surprised by the water in San Francisco, but I suspect it's all desal, so you'd expect it to be good. I've been made sick by water in Europe, but got away with drinking tap water in Northern Thailand. So who knows about water quality?

I definitely think I'd be paranoid about tap water in third world countries Suze.

Squib, sometimes that warm plasticy taste seems downright delicious when compared to the alternative.

Oh I didn't drink the water in Thailand deliberately. I'd gotten orange juice all over myself and went to wash my hands at a tap, and just... forgot.

I can only imagine the worrisome 24hrs that followed, Suze.

I don't like the taste of bottled water unless the tap is soo bad or unsafe
we bought bottled water in italy, near pompei. it was labelled 'tinea' and it had floaties in the bottom. true story, we have a photo.

Didn't realise things had gotten that bad in Italy. I shudder to think what the bottled water must be like in Greece right now.

I find certain brands of bottled water eg Evian to be horrible. If I accidentally buy the "wrong" brand, I go through it half as fast and pull faces after every swig. Nasty stuff Evian.

As I once heard somebody point out a long time ago, "Ya reckon it's a coincidence that evian is naive spelled backwards?"
