I've said before that I don't like comedy. It's easy to say something like that when you hate 99% of the comedy that you've seen in the last 20 years. The truth is though, that I don't hate comedy; I actually love it. I'm just really fuckin' fussy.
I think I wrote about the original webseries of "The Katering Show" when I found it last year. I can't imagine raving about it, but I was probably pretty excited to find a comedy show that I thought was halfway decent. I think one my biggest problems with comedies is that if there's no ongoing dramatic thread, I tend to get bored and stop watching. The Katering Show gets around this problem by being short. I think the whole series takes about an hour to watch.
Well, it seems they were picked up by the ABC, and season 2 has just launched (like, today) on iView:
http://iview.abc.net.au/collection/the-katering-show-complete-seriesUnfortunately, it's not up anywhere except iView; however, if you'd like to see it, and you happen to be living in some far off place—like say, Scotland—I'd be happy to upload it and send you a private link. It's not much of a consolation, but you can check out the season 2 promos, which have a couple of funny gags in them—including one that specifically references overseas fans having to pirate the show:
It's questionable if the second season is as good as the first, but at least it's not dramatically worse. And if you did like it, you can also check out their first webseries: "Bleak".
It's a different beast, and I don't think it's as good as The Katering Show, but it's only four episodes and there's a single very funny moment right near the end.

I love the Katering Show. Though the last one of this season made me a bit uncomfortable. Mainly because I associate those kind of arguments with breakups and was already looking forward to season 3.
I'm going to guess that the fate of season 3 is going to depend largely on how season 2 performs on iView.
Speaking of which, I see the Kates have got a half-hour pilot for Bleak up on iView. Watch it here …
