I'd just like to say that I've never cared one way or the other about Madonna, and—apart from wondering about the legal implications of having a topless seventeen-year-old on stage—I don't particularly care about this latest incident either.
Having said that, I thought my mum's reaction was too good not to share.
If you watch the movie made from her Blonde Ambition tour I recall that she often showed up late, but not like she's doing now - that's just rude. I mean FFS, people have jobs, and babysitters, and other things that mean they can't hang around ALL night waiting for Her Madge.
Reminds me of the Prince concert a couple of years back (which incidentally is the reason we did not attempt to see him this time, despite my love of Prince). He performed his initial set, which was longish, I can't remember how much but let's say more than 90 min and less than 2 hours. At that point he left the stage and the lights came up in the stadium and we all stood there like numpties looking at each other in light far too bright for the time of night that it was. We waited 30 mins before getting the shits and leaving. Staff tried to stop us, telling us to wait, he'd be back etc, but I had a 0630 start in the morning and it was just too much.
My hairdresser was coincidentally sitting two seats down from me told me later they waited a full hour for him to come back for the encore. That's just shitty IMO, though he said it was worth the wait.
I heard some of the people at the Madonna concerts managed to get their money back. I've heard people say it's perfectly normal for musicians to start late and audiences should expect it, but it just seems unprofessional to me. It's quite possible I don't "get" musos. I certainly don't get why people go nuts for them. Despite the fact that I listen to a lot of music, I'm not a "fan" of any musicians in particular and probably wouldn't go to see any of them live (except for TISM, but they broke up years ago). For me, music is mostly something to listen to while I'm doing other things.

Oh yup, that's why I like music festivals more. They're always over by 9pm (sometimes even earlier!) and I'm nicely tucked up in bed by 10
