Um, I don't know what to say other than check my current blog post for things about cars and WA. It's all I've got.
You should make Ramon come over here to respond to the politico stuff, I can't really do it. Other than did you see the school kids talking to Abbott? Did you see the placard someone made for a recent March in March, er march, that said 'I prefer Joffrey to Abbott?' (GoT reference, fucking fantastic.)
Melbs, Troy Buswell is a Liberal MP in WA who behaved reprehensibly for years, and now that he's supposedly had some sort of nervous breakdown, some people are suggesting that we should forget all that and treat him with kid gloves.
I am not one of those people.

I didn't see either of those things you mentioned. What happened with the school kids?
And when is Game Of Thrones coming back on?
And when is Orange Is The New Black coming back on?
And how would I “make” Ramon come here to talk politics?
OK. Ignoring the Buswell thing only because I don't care other than to say I agree with you to a point, BUT if someone has had a legitimate breakdown then anyone (almost) can have some compassion in my view. But I don't know what he's done, and we don't know whether it's a for real breakdown or just pretend, but yeah. Are you from WA originally? I am remembering some exchange in the dim past with squibby...
Now to the more important questions.

He thought he was in for an easy coupla questions and then nick off, but they weren't going to be shrugged off. I can't decide whether he's an idiot for not handling it better and cutting them off and walking away OR a good guy for trying to stay and give them some time. Maybe both. Well, definitely an idiot, it's such bad PR but then it's good PR cause it shows him not blowing them off. I can't make up my mind.
GoT - April 6 in the US I think. Can't wait. Here's a fab Vanity Fair interview with George RR:
I have a rellies in WA (of course), and I've spent some time there. I'm not really from anywhere “originally”. We moved around a fair bit when I was younger, so I don't really feel like I have a home town or state or anything. Though I still feel more “country” than “city” I guess. At this rate, I'll probably stay in QLD until my folks are gone, but eventually I'd like to head on back around Freo way. You've probably got a good idea why now that you've been there, eh?
Poor ol' Squibby, going from that to Scotland. I suppose I shouldn't bag the place too much since I've never been there. It's just that you hear about it being cold and drizzly all the time (no offense to you in your neck of the woods). I hope Squib doesn't come here and see this and get insulted.
I'll have to look at the video when I've got a better connection. Cheers for the article too.
As for Ramon, I've got the bailing twine if you've got the boot space.
Good on those kids. You know, ever since Gillard and the sexism furore, I've heard these talking-heads types occasionally espousing this notion that, “even if you don't like the PM, you must respect the office of the PM”. Well, I say bollocks to that! As far as I'm aware, that's an American notion, and the Yanks are bloody well welcome to it. I don't see why I should behave respectfully to anyone who's earned my contempt, whether it be arseless Harry down the road or the bloody Queen herself. Not that I thought those kids were being overly rude or anything; but I'll bet some people who saw that would have.
Things I found interesting about the GoT article:
• The problem with Arya aging was the first thing I picked up on at the start of season 2; and I was quite impressed with the way they dealt with it, while at the same time giving a subtle nod to the audience. • I thought it was interesting the way he kinda bagged out Hollywood and network television. Deservedly so, I think too. • I like what he said about ensemble casts vs single protagonist narratives too. I tend to prefer ensembles for that exact reason. • And the plot twist thing. I didn't care for the Sixth Sense or its Big Reveal. I agree that it's better to have a story that's unpredictable, but I prefer my twists to be more gradual and natural. • But I thought the bit about authors needing to be damaged people that bleed on the paper was getting a bit close to pretentious wankery. Fair enough if he wants to describe his own experiences in those terms, but when you start making those sort of statements to differentiate yourself and the “great authors” from the rest of the herd, well … • Is there still really discrimination towards sci-fi & fantasy fiction these days? Is it an industry thing, or a thing in snobby literary circles? Because I'm buggered if I've come across any lately.

OITNB? I don't know but I can't bloody wait.
And Ramon? Who knows. We'd need to hogtie him and bring him here in the back of my car. Or something.
